As the current world’s pandemic - COVID-19 virus has become the most happening and high discussion topic among all fields in the community. As some further studies from the article “ Creating Data-Rich Workplaces to Detect and Curb Viral Transmission”, few design issues are being discussed in the article. The main issue found is that health, wellness and hygiene have become the first focus than anything in society these days.

According to the issue stated above, it came to lead with the main objective mentioned in the article, which is to create BETTER HEALTH space to serve the people better in life along fighting through this pandemic.

Life’s On - An emergency transit hub where it serves as a purpose of medical support. Life’s On is also a project where will be taken charge by the Pantai Hospital ; which also under the Pantai Holdings Sdn Bhd

This emergency transit hub allows ambulances to stop by to carry out immediate medical services for patients. The main objectives of this project are to achieve better health in the community, to help reduce the front-liners workload and also to increase the efficiency of the whole emergency process to be taken, especially in helping the ambulance transferring the patient process.

Reception & Lobby

Reception and lobby serve an important role because it is the first view for everyone when entering the building. The counter is located at the center of the building, therefore it leads to two different pathways, one is towards the left - emergency main entrance ; secondly is the right -towards multiple directions such as treatment room, waiting lounge and more.

The greeneries on the wall serve a function for interior air ventilation purposes, it also reflects the design concept. Greeneries in a line on the wall represent the strong spirit of hope in life although surviving in difficulty.

Isolation Room

An isolation room might seems normal in any emergency room, but due to the current pandemic, isolation room has become one of the essential requirements in the medical services space.

This space is being divided into three rooms which are totally separated from the other treatment area or public area. Also, this space has its independent entrance and exit which ease the process of transferring patients and prevent the virus from being spread.

Emergency Room

The emergency room serves the purpose of treating serious case-patient especially from accident, which most often happened in Malaysia.

This room able to occupy four patients at one time and all medical machines and equipment are well equipped in the room. This space’s form is designed according to the concept element that is being applied in the floor plan. This room is designed to have more walking space because it requires stretcher moving anytime to ensure the ease flow while treatment activities still go on.

Treatment Room

The treatment room serves a function of treating minor injuries patients. It also acts as a secondary resource of medical supply and machinery.

This room has two different entrances where one of them is directly linked from the emergency room, whereby another one will be a direct entrance from the lobby area.

This room also able to occupy four patients at one time and the waiting area for seating are available near the entrance as well. This room is also linked with other medical function rooms such as X-Ray Room, Blood Bank and Medical Storage.

Waiting Lounge / Consultation Room

This waiting lounge is an area that allows the public to have a break and chill there while waiting for their families and friends. This room has some seating, as well as some reading resources, which are being provided for the public. Both male and female water closets are included near the waiting lounge.

This space also allows doctors and specialists to carry out consultation and discussion with the patient’s family and friends. Design-wise, one featured wall is being fully-planted with wall plantation and greeneries. This serves as a function of air-well ventilation as well as helps to calm down the environment and atmosphere.
